So last post, I raved about my current obsession with Project Life. I've gotten so antsy to start, that I just bought some pocket pages and dove in! I don't have a core kit yet (still holding out for the Chalkboard line). I don't even have an album to hold my pages yet (still holding out for the Mint album). But I have enough embellishments and random journaling cards collected that I just decided to go for it. Also, even though it's the middle of the year, I just joined in on week 34 as my first week. I thought about waiting until the beginning of 2014, but there's no better time than now!
Week of: August 19 - August 25
What happened this week?
1.) We got a new couch!!! That was super exiting. It's not an exaggeration to say that we've been looking for a couch for a whole year. In the mean time, we've had a comfy chair and a wooden chair in the living room - unacceptable!
2.) Russ took me to the roof top at his work, and we saw the cityscape of Kansas City from a beautiful view.
3.) I got a new haircut that is inspired by Becki from Whippy Cake. I shared my photo on Instagram and she commented AND started following me. I had a total fan-girl moment.
4.) Saturday was a fun day! The whole right side of the spread is dedicated to Saturday. Delicious meal, antique shopping and stumbling into the grand opening of an indie music store called FOLK.
Challenges this week: Tying all the colors together. I noticed a common color theme of orangy-reds and greenish-blues, so I tried to keep going within that color scheme. I don't feel like I successfully pulled it off. But I'm not being too hard on myself considering this is my first week! I think overall, it feels pretty "busy" without a clear theme. But I'm OK with it.
Techniques this week: Using embellishments to try to tie everything together. I also used my typerwriter as well as my handwriting. I can tell it will take some practice for me to get my writing the way I want it to look in these spreads.
Overall, I had so much fun with this! I'm really excited to be printing photos from my everyday life instead of leaving them to sit on my hard drive. I can't wait to be able to look back on these pages once time has gone by. I took all these photos with my iPhone (with the exception of the cow postcard we picked up at the resturant we ate at). I edited the photos with my phone and I also sent them to print from my phone through the CVS app, and they were ready to pick up 18 minutes later from my local CVS! Say WHAT??? Yeah, I was super impressed at how easy and quick I was able to select my photos and have them edited and printed.
I hope you enjoy a little peak into my everyday. It's not something I share a whole lot of in internet-land. But I'm really exited for this project and I want to document my process of documenting my life... lots of documenting going on here!
I'll be back soon to share week 35! Have a lovely week.
