Okay, so I've offically caught the Smash* book bug! Who knows what I'm talkin' about?! Yes, it's essentially just a glorified scrapbook, but for some reason it's totally awesome. Each book is bound with colorfully themed papers and is sold alongside an array of inspiring supplies. You can pick up one of these companions at Target, Walmart or other craft stores. I decided on the hot pink "pretty style" book.
It's extremely exciting to dig out all of my craft supplies and embrace the unknown and what-could-be's. It's also extremely intimidating to glue that first permanent piece to that first empty page!So this is my first spread! It's filled with papers, tags, stickers, lace, ribbon, decorative tape, doodles and handwriting! It may be overloaded with patterns and visual elements but I'm no minimalist and in my Smash* book, there are no rules!
The paper with the bird on it was the first element I glued to the page, and everything stemmed from there. A moment earlier with Earl Grey tea sparked the idea of turning the tea bag wrapper into a little pocket. It's funny how my mind sees things differently when I have a new project to consider. I'm so glad I salvaged that wrapper from it's fate of the trash can. Did you know? The secret is out! Having Earl Grey everyday is the secret to happiness :)
It delights me deeply to open up old tins and tupperwares of scrappy, crafty bits and bobs and dream a new dream for them. Back in 2005, I spent hundreds of dollars on scrapbooking and crafting supplies but I've never actually made a whole scrapbook! Needless to say, I have tons of supplies. My friends and I are orchestrating a scrap swap and I'm so looking forward to sharing some of my empherma and receiving someone else's! I'll document the swapping and share the upcoming pages when I get them finished. Any other Smash*bookers out there?
