It's that time of year again when I delve into my yarn stash and surf the web for new crochet projects to try! I started with knitting in 2004, it seemed to be what every art school girl was doing during classroom lectures and in between bites in the cafeteria. I enjoyed knitting, but wondered what I was missing out on by not knowing how to crochet. So I taught myself how to crochet in 2006, and I'm so glad I did. In my opinion, knitting produces prettier stitches but there is so much flexibility with crochet! So far, I haven't picked up knitting needles since the crochet hook came into my life, but I'm not swearing them off because I do dream of handmade woolly, knitted socks!
I must admit, I am a "seasonal crocheter". It seems I only desire to pick up the hobby in the Fall when the weather gets cool and being covered in extra fabric feels like a good thing. But once I start - look out! I can't stop hooking! Happens every time. :)
My first project of the season is two dishcloths. I love using crochet dishcloths in the kitchen and in the bathroom for face cloths. For these dishcloths I used I Love This Cotton! brand in "Monkey Brown" that I picked up at Hobby Lobby. It's a perfect twist of chocolaty brown and cream and the 3 oz. skein is just enough to make two dishcloths.
The completed cloth above was made using this pattern. And the second work-in-progress cloth I've started, using this pattern. Both were crocheted with a size H-8 (5.00mm) hook. I found these patterns on this great site called bestfreecrochet.com where lots and lots of various patterns can be found for free!
If you follow my Crochet Projects board on Pinterest, you'll have no surprise at my next crochet project I'm working on! I'm really excited about this one and I can't wait to share it once it's finished!
Stay cozy, start hooking and have the Happiest of Thanksgivings!!
