My experience with illustrated chalkboards began when I started making chalkboard menus for restaurants and cafes, for a company in California (more info on my history in chalkboard art in a future post).
This is one example of a chalkboard menu I did while with them. All of the artwork and lettering is done by hand and it is sealed to touch so that means no smudging! They can be personalized in any way and the colors are vibrant!
This is such a versatile medium with many possible functions. And I just love making chalkboard art so much that I began doing it on my own after moving back to Missouri. I am always trying to think of new uses for this art, and so far I have made personalized plaques and chalkboards, pet and people portraits, house portraits, signs, and more menu boards! Here are a few examples:
I use to go under the name "Chalkbird Studio" but now you can find me here, under jazzyCHALKS. I will be sharing my current illustrated chalkboard projects as they come up. If you'd like to view all the illustrated chalkboards that I have done independently, see my portfolio.
I hope that gives you a better view of what illustrated chalkboards are all about!
