Sometimes you need a little reminder telling you it's okay to be yourself. More than okay -- completely important. This saying is adapted from a Dr. Seuss quote:
"Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You."
Dr. Seuss made some cute children's books but some of his words still ring true when you're no longer a child at all.
I have been doing some experimenting. This is the first time I've done freehand lettering on a chalkboard. Usually it involves a lot of measuring to get the type looking even and precise. This time, I just had fun with it and did it in my own handwriting. (Sometimes you need to learn the rules to break the rules). I also tried "distressing" the chalkboard, giving it a used look rather than a fresh, extremely clean background. I think this look would compliment a home that is filled with antiques and other "distressed" items. Or on the contrary, I can vision it in a modern room with clean lines and white walls, and this style of chalkboard would be a good contrast to that.
I'm going to be making more of these. In fact, my mom (who owns an antique shop in Springfield, MO) is partnering with a good friend, Debbie (from Rustique Market) to present a once-a-month sale focusing on French style decor and furniture. I am making some chalkboards to sell there. I'll post more about this when it's closer to the sale date.
